This volume is dedicated to Raimundo Monvoisin (1790-1870) was a French painter, invited to Chile by politician Mariano Egaña to found an Academy of Fine Arts and who left a durable mark in Chile's art history. Romantic painter Monvoisin who first lived in Buenos Aires and was latter relocated to Chile, established a workshop in which he gave lessons to many eager young students. He was devoted mainly to portraiture, though he also painted landscapes and works with mythological, religious and historical themes.
